Playing with an Arduino

No, it is not something like a rabbit. It is an Open Source microprocessor system. If you know nothing about it, you can Google a bit or even check out what is for sale at Adafruit. I mention Adafruit because I bought some things from them. They are clearly designed to help those of us who want to play, get started.

Let me try to put this in perspective for those of you who might have been in the Microcomputer game for a while. My first Micro was an SWTP 6800 system.

Warning: This device is not Underwriters Laboratory approved and, beyond that, it is just downright dangerous. Don't even think about building one—unless you live in a third world country.

The Problem

This is a quick thought today. It will likely become a book on this site. The quasi-civil war in Honduras makes me think about this a lot. The government has been closing down radio and TV stations and, in some cases, interrupting Internet communications. What I want to write about is how to have a repression-free communications method. Many years ago there was a little book written called Radio is my Bomb. I had a copy. Searching today lead me to http://www.roguecom.com/rogueradio/radioismybomb.html but it was not the book I had. But, no matter.
